About

An AC buying guide, not a contractor marketplace.

We help US homeowners compare replacement quotes before a hot week and a sales deadline turn an unfamiliar purchase into a rushed one.

Why this site exists

An air conditioner is sold as a box but bought as an installed system. Capacity, indoor equipment, ducts, refrigerant piping, electrical work, drains, controls, permits, startup, and warranty determine whether the purchase works. Most comparison pages rank badges. We compare the scope.

Our order of operations

Sizing first. Ducts and airflow second. Matched equipment and installer scope next. Efficiency, comfort features, and brand come after the design is credible. A premium logo cannot rescue a guessed load or restricted return air.

How we research

We prefer primary and attributable sources: US Department of Energy and ENERGY STAR guidance, EPA refrigerant rules, AHRI certified matches, ACCA design standards, state licensing information, and manufacturer installation and warranty documents. Price ranges are dated, treated as planning context, and never substituted for local written proposals.

How we make money

The quote review is the core product. Future contractor introductions must be named, vetted, one homeowner to one contractor, and paid by a flat disclosed fee rather than a lead auction. Sponsorship and affiliate relationships never buy a ranking or remove a downside.

What we are not

We are not your HVAC designer, licensed contractor, electrician, tax adviser, or code authority. Our work helps you ask better questions and compare written scope. Final design, installation, refrigerant handling, electrical work, and permits belong with qualified local professionals.
